| Decree Law 55/2005 |

Recent changes in Portuguese Government Legislation have forced all private owners to re-assess how they rent their property here in the Algarve.
The decree law 55/2005 states that any “complementary facility” – meaning a private villa or apartment wishing to rent as a “Turistic activity or purpose” requires this license in order to do so.
Without this license a property may not be let/rented via an agent/travel operator/property manager or any other intermediary nor can it be rented directly by the owner via any form of advertising or promotion.
Failure to comply with this law exposes both you the owner and the agent to fines that far outweigh the received benefit of rental income.
EnQuinta Property Management in conjunction with its Legal, Accounting and Architecture partners is able to prepare your property for the license application, oversee the project application and advise you the owner on the progress and completion.
